Sorry for not posting throughout the last days. I am working on a new series reagrding the rS1-method by Reinhold Scheck, an Excel-Pro and author of several Office books from Germany. Make sure to check back soon to read the first part. Also the holiday season takes its time. Nevertheless, here is a quick tip which comes in very handy when you want to position your charts precisely.  

If you use the arrow keys on your keyboard with an already selected charts, this leads to "scrolling" through the several elements of a chart like Plot Area, Data Points, Title, Legend etc. If you now deselect your chart and CTRL-klick the chart, it will be handled as a graphical object and can be moved / nudged with the arrow keys on your keyboard.

 

The handles surrounding your chart change to the ones you can see when working with graphical objects (see screenshots below for MSXL 2003 and 2007):
