Hi everyone! Todays post is focussing on the adjustments you have made to your favourite spreadsheet tool which I assume is MS Excel.

Water paintsWhat buttons have you added, which toolbar is opened as default within the user interface? Send me pictures of your Excel configuration (no matter if it is 2000, 2003, 2007 or a picture of your personal config of 2010 beta)...

Please send these images to my email address This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and with one of the next posts, I will show up with any explanation you gave as well as a link to your website / services whatever you want.

Here are the toolbars and / or icons I have added to the MS Excel 2003 software on my working laptop:

The Excel Jeannie toolbar

Excel Jeannie toolbar

I have used this nice tool quite often in this blog because it allows me to transfer tabular data from Excel to HTML-compatible tabular data. If you want to know more about Excel Jeannie, visit the authors webpage

Several insert and delete functions + camera

Adjusted Edit toolbar

I use these delete and add row / columns buttons quite often, because from my experience it goes much faster than right-clicking. I also use the camera quite a lot these days. Unfortunately this very lovely tool is a little bit hidden under the Excel standard surface Laughing If you want to enable it, do the following: We will have a nice tutorial how to spin images with the help of the camera tool tomorrow 02/17/2010

  • right-click any of your toolbars (e. g. on the "B" that stands for bold) and select the very last point on the list: "adjust"
  • In the left half of the window click on the menu "Tools" and in the right half scroll down until you find the camera tool.

The graphics toolbar + alignment

Graphics toolbar

I have added the graphics toolbar because I integrate images and adjust them quite often. I have also added the grouping buttons, the "bring to front" and "send to back" buttons as well as the alignment buttons. These are all very useful if you want to align charts, form controls etc.

The drawing toolbar

The buttons I use the most from  this toolbar are the fill button, the line color button and the text field button.

So, what about you? Share it with me via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
